Emergency and disaster relief
In an emergency, medical aid can be speedily delivered to a disaster area, thanks to a permanent supply of 300.000 units of medicine in our well-equipped 4.000 m² warehouse and to the support of reliable local partners.
medeor stocks Emergency Health Kits, ready for speedy shipment. These emergency packages, which weigh about 900 kilos, can provide up to 10.000 people with medical supplies for three months. medeor provides special nutrition for victims in famine areas.

Health care projects
In co-operation with experienced local non-governmental organisations, action medeor handles its own health care projects in Latin America and Africa. Here we support the establishment of healthcare centres and the education and training of local qualified personnel. These health care workers can then provide medical care for others as well as information on prevention and treatment of dangerous diseases. In all our projects we aim to contribute to a sustainable development.

Pharmaceutical medical expertise
A further goal is the strengthening of local structures in the poor countries of the world, which is why action medeor runs training courses for pharmaceutical personnel. medeor supports the local development and production of drugs and collaborates in this with local manufacturers. This guarantees a better availability of drugs and reduces the dependency of the developing countries on expensive imports.

action medeor e.V. has the seal of approval of the German Central Institute for Social Affairs (Deutsches Zentralinstitut für soziale Fragen - DZI) in Berlin. The seal is awarded only to aid organisations which can demonstrate responsible use of donations, and it must be reapplied for every year.

action medeor International Healthcare gGmbH
This non-profit, limited liability company has been in operation in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania since 2005, and supplies local healthcare centres and hospitals. This is another example of the way in which medeor supports local structures.

The action medeor foundation was established in 2001. As a donor you can provide long-term support to an action medeor project of your choice. Thus you can continue to help people in the poorest countries of the world to achieve better and sustainable medical provision, even after your own lifetime.

Medeor: Fighting malaria

medeor is drawing attention to malaria with a Malaria Campaign.
In the spring of 2007, on the occasion of African Malaria Day, the German medical relief organisation, action medeor, launched its malaria campaign, which will span several years and is intended to draw the public’s attention to the plight caused by malaria in Africa: every 30 seconds an African child dies as a result of malaria.
